How Replay Poker Calculates Poker Tournament Points 7 months ago

Below is how we calculate points for the Tournament Toplists.

It's really all calculated by a simple formula of:
(1000*(Math.sqrt(n)/Math.sqrt(k))*(1.01+Math.log10(b))).ceil
Where n=number of participants, k=position in tournament, and b=amount of buy in.

That may be confusing for some of you, so let me try to explain it a bit simpler. Say you placed 1st in a 10 person tournament with a 10000 buy in. If you plug that into the formula it would look like this: (1000*(Math.sqrt(10)/Math.sqrt(1))*(1.01+Math.log10(10000))).ceil . If you take the time to figure it out, you'll see that you would receive 15844 points. If you placed 5th in the exact same tournament, you just swap the 1 for a 5, and evaluate. The formula would look like this: 1000*(Math.sqrt(10)/Math.sqrt(5))*(1.01+Math.log10(10000))).ceil , and if you decided work through the formula, you would see that you would earn 7086 points.

Please note that we only sum your top 10 multi table tournaments per week, 20 per month, and 100 per year.

Now that you know the formula, you can just swap out the variables to determine how many points you'll receive per tournament if you so desire. If you're still confused, send me a message and I'll try to explain it a little better. However, if you're like me, you're just happy there's a computer here to do all this for you!

Interview with Happiness 7 months ago

I had the pleasure of recently interviewing one of the top tournament players on the site. Happiness, who holds four #1 spots, three #2 spots, and one #3 spot on tournament toplists was kind enough to answer a few of my questions.

Below are the questions and answers to that interview.

Where did you learn to play tournament poker?
I learned how to play poker on Replay. My son (he was 14 or 15 then) told me how to do it.

How long have you been playing poker?
I think I've been playing for 1.5 or 2 years now.

How many different tournaments do you play per week?
Hahahahahaha.....I try to play 4 or 5 a day, when I have the time :)

On Replay, who is your biggest threat, and why?
My biggest threats are Angeli (she is very, very good) for sure, Freeroll (when he has more time), and Thea. But I like that; competition is great!

Which do you think is more fun, tournaments or ring games, and why?
I like tournaments the most because they have an end :)

What would you like to see different on Replay Poker?
Replay is a very, very good site; especially with the new multi-tours. And there are a lot of nice people here on Replay. I only hope that the old players come back and many new!

I hope you've enjoyed this interview; look for more in the future!

Good luck to all in the future (especially if you meet up with Happiness...you'll need it!),
